Hey all. I've got a concrete floor in the basement that I need some help with. The floor currently has a few coats of Drylok white masonry paint on it which was put down since moisture seeps up into the concrete in a few spots at a very slow rate. Never puddles, just dampens. Drylok has kept the floor dry, but chips away in heavy foot traffic areas, and creates white dust which contains silica when we drag heavy things along the floor.
Ideally we'd remove all walls and equipment from the basement, remove the paint, and have the concrete slab professionally repaired and smoothed out. That's not an option though, since we have a small legal grow down there, as well as a bit of a workshop area.
So could I epoxy over the drylok? I'm thinking of cleaning the drylok real well (vacuum, mop, bristle, etc), putting a new coat or two down, then epoxying over this. I don't know anything about epoxy, however, like using a 2-part vs a 1-part, good brands, proper methods, etc. Any advice? |
