what would be the best tape to use to tape the seams of some XPS panels. the Red tuck tape does not hold up over time. Not sure if the new blue version would or not. Was thinking 3m duct foil tape. Or is there a better option? thanks

Dow Weathermate or Tyvek tape work much better, but if you really want peace of mind use Zip tape or Tescon Vana from 475 Building products. The latter two use a pressure activated adhesive that gets stronger with time.

Hit Amazon up and search for Zip System Tape to get an idea of how much the stuff will run you.

You don't need the 6" or 10". You can get by with the 4" tape (3.75" actually).

Thanks for calling my attention to that test. Some of the results are here: https://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/article/return-to-the-backyard-tape-test

Keep in mind that test had the tape out in the open, full UV exposure for that entire time.
Most house-wraps and sealing tapes don't fare that well for that long.
Realistically, if you tape up your joints, using an appropriate tape, then sheath the house in relatively short order, you shouldn't have peeling issues.

Using Duct-tape (Duck Tape) isn't really recommended. Just like it's actually a BAD sealant for ducts. Mainly because the adhesive isn't really meant to hold, long term under positive pressure with variable humidities. So, after a while the adhesive just dries out, and the surface starts cracking and flaking off.

And, yeah, ignore my suggestion of Zip Tape. Doing a bit more research and it really is only meant for taping seams out in Zip products.
