Hey guys, I'm planning on building a home out of shipping containers soon after this COVID-19 pandemic ends. I had already approached an architect to create the design. I'm planning to consult any contractors to build the structure and thinking of doing the rest by myself. I don't have any previous experience with building such things, but I hope I can learn things quickly like to insulate and drywall. So before this lockdown ends, I'm thinking of increasing my skills and knowledge regarding this. So anyone here has converted shipping containers or anything similar, I would like to hear from you. Any advice or comments? Thanks!

As Smartwall said, Isofast has systems for insulating containers. Both exterior and interior.

You're going to be spending bank on metal work. It's a LOT of welding.

Unless you're short, or you LOVE cramped quarters, spend for "high cube" units.

Recommend building additional structure for the roof itself.
It can help cut down on wear and tear of the container tops, as they're not directly exposed to the weather. Bare, or even painted/coated container tops naturally have high and low spots and water can accumulate.
A structured roof system eliminates that and dramatically reduces the need to chase possible leaks where things were "missed" during the welding and sealing phases.

DO NOT SKIMP ON DEHUMIDIFICATION! ESPECIALLY if you are buying used units. Containers can become a haven for mold and mildew.
Fresh air flow is also very important for the same reason.
