Hello, purchased a home this year in upstate New York. I want to redo the siding. i have a handy background but no experience with specifics of insulation and siding. A large portion of the first floor is concrete or cinder block. (was a barn from early 1900's) second floor i havent explored yet but most likly stick framing. For the first floor i was thinking about painting the block walls, adding 1.5" of foam board insulation with 2x4 fur strips. zip board over that then vinyl siding. Through some research i have raised more questions then found answers. if anyone could provide input as to 1.5" over 2" of insulation. any kind of moisture issues im going to run into? any help or links to read would be appreciated

And what's the current R-value of the walls in question?
If you're adding foam board, you want to make sure that you have enough to move the dewpoint of the wall OUTSIDE the wall structure itself.

Im not sure of the current r value. the first floor is the block outside, and then walls built inside, about 6" deep but unsure of the insulation (if any) in the interior walls. what complications could i run into if i just epoxy paint the block put the foam board up with zip board then vinyl siding?
