For those of you in the Dallas - Ft. Worth area that want to personally visit, and for those of you wanting to look at example homes, the DFW Solar Home Tour is this coming Sat., Oct. 1st. My residence is 'on the tour,' covering solar PV, geothermal HVAC, CFL lamp replacement, home automation control, and energy savings monitoring. I have a reference document that I put together that I'll talk through with the visitors to my home - it's available here: PDF Doc.
There are 16 homes total - my residence is one of 4 in the City of Plano. Here's a short film clip summarizing all of the homes: 5 minutes video (also accessible from the DFW Solar Home Tour web page). My home's at the 1:43 mark.
My solar PV system is 8.1 kW DC, grid-tied, batteryless. It well illustrates the economics of leased solar PV systems, for the installer (design compromises to maximize installer's ROI), and for the purchaser (immediate positive cash flow - i.e. immediate 'break even point.'
If anyone has any questions, just holler.
Best regards,
