I ust bought a group of Loewen windows for a project, and I lucked out and bought a patio door as a floor model.
Both the windows and door are currently Loewen's "tuscany brown", but we're interested in having green exteriors.

My quesiton is - can the aluminum cladding on the outside of the window be re-painted?  Or is it baked on enamel, and not really re-paintable?

If it can be re-painted - is there any tried and true technique?

Thanks in Advance!!

CB.

Yes you can repaint it. Make sure to get a good quality paint from a paint store, not Lowes or Homedepot! Sherwin williams makes a good exterior paint called Duration, it is a lifetime paint and is top quality. As for technique please prep the windows right! Scrape and sand any loose paint, sand all surfaces to be painted for proper adhesion and wash the surface after sanding. Allow to dry for one or two good sunny days. Next you will use frog tape to mask the windows, then use a good Wooster or Purdy sash brush to apply your 2 coats of paint. Remove tape and your done!

Scuffing up the existing surface is integral.

Anything can be painted.  It's just a matter of how good it looks and how long it lasts.
