I am planning to build an ICF building in Ontario this spring. South side of building will be partially blocked by trees, so I don't see any reason to invest in extremely, high efficient windows. The price range for fiberglass windows varies from 20$ per sq. feet to 70$ per sq. feet.( http://www.greenbuildingtalk.c...fault.aspx ). I have 24 60"x60" windows, the price difference between the first and the second brand is 30 000$! I understand there is a big difference in design and overall quality, but just to recuperate that price difference in heating costs, will take probably 50 years. I could be dead by that time :) Am I missing some crucial information which could justify that price difference? What is the best price/quality balanced option for new house windows? Any feedback is highly appreciated.

The most cost competitive fiberglass windows in Ontario should be Inline, but you must buy direct. Meaning if you are not from the Toronto area you are probably are out of luck because you have to go through their dealers depending if they have one in the area.  Then Fibertec will sell you direct and I am most certain they will be cheaper than Thermotech or Inline. You should obviously get quotes from all three, making sure it is an apple's to apple's comparison.

However, with the dollar parity, you could look at the US made windows knowing the performance will be most likely inferior. Do your due diligence.

Hi windowrookie,

Thank you very much for sharing information, I am in GTA area, so I will try to contact Inline company directly. If you don't mind I would like to ask a few more questions. Which Inline model, in your opinion, has the best price/quality ratio? Can you recommend which of Inline  sales representative should I contact to get the best price? If I want to stay in 20$ per sq. foot budget do I have a chance to find a decent fiberglass windows or should I be considering vinyl only?

Thanks again.
