I'm deciding whether to build a home in S. Cal with SCIPs or ICFs. It surprises me that there aren't more builders working with ICFs here since it's really just an extension of poured in place with removable forms.
I've read the opinions on this site about issues concerning thermal mass, R values and other technical matters, but what about general, overall comfort?
The walls being thinner than usual, how is living in a SCIP home in comparison to one that is wood framed?
Positive/ negative experiences?

I've lived in SCIP and wood framed. SCIP was quiet, well sealed and not effected by salt in the air. More thermal mass, but that's only significant if you aren't controlling temperature.

Thanks jon for your observation. Given the nature of building with SCIP, it seems having to be extra attentive in creating a tight envelope is not as necessary as say building with wood framed.
