Just wanted to share a couple pictures of a lintel a few of my guys were working on today. The rebar schedule calls for 4 #5 horz rebar within 4" of the bottom of the lintel and 2 #5 rebar within the top 2" of the lintel....all with #4 stirrups 4" on center (eeeee!).

Wow that looks like about a 12' lintel, my longest one so far has been 9'. It looks like you are pre assembeling the lintel outside of the form is that correct, and how does it compare to hook and pull for time?

Nice bracing are you 4' oc or 6' oc hard to tell from the pic?

Hi pccoughlin:

Please tell us a bit more about the lintel, such as ...

  • span of the lintel
  • depth of the lintel
  • loading on the lintel
  • spacing of the stirrups
  • ....

Boy, #4 stirrups ... that must have been pretty tough to work with, #4 rebar for stirrups seems to be too much -- anyway not knowing all the details, this is just thinking aloud.

Great job on posting good clear pictures.

Wow, thats more horizontals and #4 stirrups than I've seen for a 12' span! Is there a point load over this window?

Pete,

Is that the double taper you were using? Looks like a very nice job. Say hi to George V. when you see him. Oh by the way I like the new name.
