What do you do in a full ICF construction regarding tall wall design? Insert steel, use wood or can you pour thin 6-12 inches of reinforced columns or what?
I'm talking about 2 story window walls like you would find in an entry or great room and design as it pertains to wind loads and racking.

Usually less than 2' between openings and you need specific engineering. With tall windows and an narrow column you could pour a tall section, just use plywood to strap the bucks together.

We have poured 12' to 15' high windows before with 12" to 16" columns, have just beefed them up with extra 15m bar and 10m stirrups. just like ICFconstruction said, strap the bucks together and vibrate lots to ensure proper consolidation!

Depending on your zone, I have been stuck installing steel columns, ICF around them with a specific stirup and nelson studs, then strap it all together.

i had to make a 14ft high colum of 18" width between 2 windows in my new house
a steel joist sits right on top of it for the next floor
we didn't konw what to do at first
but then we changed the 8" for 12" thicnkess of concrete
made a few 10mm stirrups ( well 1 each ft..so around 13-14 of em )
added some 10mm horizontally on each stirrups
then dropped 6 1"bar from top in all casings
i did a quick simulation, and it would've been ok with 3-4 1" bars..but hey
50$ more wasn't a question
used 12" ties from quadlock instead of 8 ones ( beauty of quadlock )
and some plywood all over
pourred it in 1 shot with a good vibrator
