Hi all,
I just wanted to express here my gratitude to Eric for a great job he did for building our ICF home. Eric also watched my back with valuable advice when I needed it, helping me not to make many mistakes as a first time owner builder. (Please forgive me Eric for not asking for your permission in posting this, I was afraid you will not let me, and I think it's important that good contractors get good feedback from their customers). I'd like also to thank to many of you members of this forum who gave me lots of great advice by answering my posts. Few words about our house (located near Ottawa, Canada): a combination of good insulation, thermal mass and passive solar design allow us to have cold summers and warm winters. Even in the coldest winter days we stay without any heating for many hours during the day, and have inside temperatures of 70F-80F. And during the hotest summer days with no A/C. Heating: wood/electric EPA Caddy furnace. ICF 6" core. R60 attic blown cellulose. Metal roof. No basement. Hambro + slab on second floor. Traditional stucco. I find sad that in these days of climate change talking (at least here in Canada) there is no mention of using ICF as a replacement to the old stick technique of building houses. Probably this will not change until the large house building companies will not adopt the ICF. Thanks again! |
