We are putting on Total Wall acrylic stucco. In my latest ICF Builder magazine they mention applying two layers of mesh at one time. I would like to do this. Any special considerations? Other than staggering seams.

One thing to consider, I suppose, is that; if I put on two independent basecoat and mesh applications is it will do a better job of fixing irregularities in the first application. Such as low spots where the first application shrank and is still low.
Opinions?

Why wouldn't you use StuccoMax with only one thin coat and one layer of mesh?

l like the sound of the GigaCrete products, would still like to try them on the inside. But I chose Total Wall because of price, service and location. Also two emails and one phone call to GigaCrete went unanswered.

well we have some damage to the EPS from the well guy hitting the house with a excavator and then ladder dents and stuff. We fix things with urethane but shallow dents end up with a little more base-coat that shrinks leaving a very slight dent still.

Understanding more of where your coming from.
Putting in a second mesh and base would definetly solve this. However are these depressions so visible once color is applied and all has dried or are specific colors giving you problems. Are clients complaining about this ?
Just some questions I'd ask myself before going that labor intensive route.
Maybe a thicker base coat would do the trick!
Hope this helps.

We don't install a lot of acrylic stucco and when we do, we do a our prep with foam to foam. This is my own house, and I find my self doing things I would not do on a customers house. Like installing the synthetic stucco today, when it is forecast to almost freeze tonight. But last night it did freeze and the Total wall was okay. But I would like the added strength of two layers and most customer wouldn't consider it.
But we are under the gun to get something on the walls before the cold really sets in, and since we are working 18' up it is nice to skip some prep.
