Ended up using pressure treated plywood attached to a ripped 2x6 for window/door bucks. Getting ready to install windows and I wanted to see what most guys are doing for installation technique and waterproofing. I was thinking of the following - Tyvec around the window buck frame and about a foot of the styrofoam wall first, then install window and lastly apply blueskin (or similar), over the nailing fin. Will be installing LP Smartside wood siding in the spring/summer, if that makes any difference. I'm hoping that 'gently warming up the blueskin and Logix block with a torch and along with the primer, will allow it to stick in our wonderful, Manitoba winters. Other option is to leave the Blueskin until spring. Anyone with experience installing it in 0 degF temps? Thanks for the replies, Greg.

Do not Do not Do not put any heat (flame) in close to the EPS or you will have a disaster. Zip system sheathing now makes a seam tape that is self adhereing 6" wide that will stick to the Zip sheathing and Eps at fairly low temps

Some manufacturers of peel-and-stick membranes do produce a low-temp version (not sure if Blueskin does or not). These can usually be installed to about -10 to -15 Celsius. Be sure to have the membrane warm prior to installing (ie, keep in a heated room/vehicle - do not heat with a torch). To help apply in cold weather, you can use a heat gun (hair dryer may work if you don't have a heat gun).

These membranes do break down in UV light, so you may be better off leaving this step until you are almost ready for exterior finish. Just be sure the windows don't leak once drywall is installed!
