Looking at building a couple of small 1-room cabins. Would like to use Nudura ICF as the foundation/crawl space walls. Log walls will be built with square (hewn) 8.5" wide x 12" tall log beams. Looking for a great connection detail approach to keep out rain, snow, insects between the logs and the ICF. Thanks in Advance! Rgds, Corey..

Cut a kerf in the bottom of the bottom log about 1.5" from the front. Fill the kerf with a non harding sealant like acoustic caulk and Insert a Z style drip edge with the top leg in the kerf. The drip part will then hang over the ICF. Make sure the horizontal part of the flashing is long enough to push the drip about 1/2" ahead of the ICF to allow for parging the ICF. Caulking should also be placed on the underside of the flashing to seal it to the concrete.
Logs can be attached with oversized j bolts or a combination of j bolts and ready rod depending on how the logs will be fastened to each other.
Remember that log shrink (a lot) and leave settling gaps above doors and windows.

Thanks, FBBP. I'll try to draw up what I think you're describing. If you have a photo or drawing could you share it?
