Hi , I am looking to build a 2400 sqft home in Chicago area , my plan is is to have ICF basement with Thermasteel or steel SIPS for above ground. ICF contractors are too pricey here , almost double the poured concrete. I am looking for some references here .. Thanks in advance

Chicago?

Selections in Chicago go like this:

Union? (Note: Just hit choice #3 and save yourself a beating.):
  • No (Scumbag!)
  • Yes (Loyal Union for life!)
  • YES!!! (YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH GOOD SOLID UNION MEN?)

They're still useful in many cases. And still perform a vital function.

The problem is, in some cases, the "old boy's club" mentality hasn't been squashed out. So, instead of companies doing unfair, horrible things to union members, it's fellow union brothers and union management doing it. Simply because they've taken a dislike to someone. And trying to prove that sort of discrimination within the framework of the union process is damn near impossible.

Anyhow, there are several green builders in the Naperville area. Not sure if they're working with ICF or not.

One possible source if you haven't talked to them yet:

Weiss Building & Development in Elgin, IL
Address: 326 Hickory Ln, South Elgin, IL 60177
Phone: (630) 485-1818

They built this place in River Forest:

As always, ask for references and all that stuff.
