Hi Folks, Stumbled upon this forum while researching options for our complete home remodel. I am interested in a concrete building given its disaster proof qualities. I had a couple of questions for folks in the Bay Area (Santa Clara county) who have built using ICF (or other concrete pours). 1. How is the living experience in the concrete building? Given the usually moderate winters and a few days of high temperature during the summer, do you feel a difference with concrete construction? 2. Are there any architects/builders/other professionals who you would recommend for this work? Thank You all for all the information that you post here. It is a great learning experience and I have lots to learn.

In addition to ICF, have you considered Structural Concrete Insulated Panels (SCIPS)? Two brands should be available in your area.

Thanks Alton. I had not heard of SCIPs. Thank you for pointing me to this. Started reading about them yesterday based on your response. I found the tridipanel system and hefty homes construction. I intend to reach out to get more information from them. Do you have any other pointers? Please DM me if it is not ok to post in the open.
Still in the early days os researching this. However overall there seems to be very less information about SCIP as compared to say ICF online. Any thoughts as to why?
There were questions about the steel wiring mesh behaving like a thermal bridge, was this answered anywhere?
The question about roof systems which will work well with this is also not clear to me.
I would really love to talk to folks who might have a home built with these systems.
Thank you very much for all the assistance! We are in the architect hunting stage, so I have time to make this work if I believe it is the right solution. Anyway it seems that concrete is super expensive and in short supply right now!
