I asked for a quote 3 weeks ago via email from their web site with no response.  I called Sips Supply and someone answered that didn't seem interested in my business but said they would send me the information, it never happened.

Thanks

Brian, doesn't Murus have the patent on using cam-locks embedded in PU SIPs? Has their patent lapsed? Or are you licensing their technology? Maybe you are reselling their manufactured panels?

Hello, Dick. You asked:

No. Murus has patent USD349235 (1994, expired 2008), which is for a specific plastic cam-lock design.
ICS SIPs operates under patent 6564521 (2003) for panels, and patent 3784240 (1974) for steel cam-locks.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the information. Just started looking at my options for building (1,700 sq ft) on my lot in Lake City, CO. Need some one to get me to the dry in stage. PM me with some of your thoughts.

Thanks,

Brian, maybe I was mistaken in believing that patent 5743056 was a Murus patent. My only reason for believing that it was is that they referenced a Murus product brochure as prior art. But if I hear you right, you are saying that the only real difference in you patent is that you have those metal stiffened grooves and the fact that you are using a metal cam-lock instead of a plastic one??

What do you use as the top and bottom connections for your panels? Do the panels get fastened into metal tracks? or what?

Typically, ICS SIPs have a 1-1/2" void in the bottom and in the top. Typically, 2x material is used as a sill-plate and as a top-plate. The panel skins are nailed to the sill-plate. Various other materials can be used as a sill-plate, such as plastic lumber, metal C-channel, etc.
