Hello! I'm curious if anyone out here has heard of or considered using SIPs for an a-frame house. I know a-frames are considered to be really inefficient but I love their design and the potential for cheap, DIY construction and I was wondering if SIP roofing panels could work for this.

Yes, Susan Marie....SIPS work great for "A-Frame" and "Chalet" type projects...I'm sure that, if you wanted to share the approximate location of your anticipated project here, that you'll find a SIP professional who would be more than happy to work with you. Having said that, if you're not quite ready to take that step, I'm sure that you can get answers to your general questions if you'll just post them here....

Thanks for your reply, I'm building near McCall Idaho which is a zone 6. What I'm curious about is how the SIPs would integrate with or replace the framing for an a-frame design. Would you just need fewer (wider spaced) studs? I just haven't seen any examples online of anyone else doing this.
