WF sells a hydrometer kit (part# CAMT). Waterpirate might be
able to tell you the approx. volume of the measuring cylinder:

I have one of these.

The picture is lousy as it shows a case with about ten hydrometers.

It fits nicely in a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe

How well do they work?

Very well.

Dewayne, Is the PVC opaque (I see some companies make clear pvc)? If so, do you fill it to the top so you can see the reading on the hydrometer? Did the pipe come with the hydrometer, or did you make it? This would be great, 3.18 fl oz (even less with the hydrometer displacement.)

Eric, when you get a chance, would you measure the diameter of the CAMT cylinder for me? I assume this is a 13" hydrometer?

The PVC is white so you fill it to the top and then read the Hydrometer which is 12 inches long

Thanks Dewayne. Just confirming, did the PVC come with the hydrometer, or did you make it yourself?

Looby (or anyone) would a 0.950 to 1.000 scale be beneficial, or potentially too limiting (i.e. could the SG be less than 0.950 in the loop)?

Sounds about right. You really only need about 0.97 to 0.99

Really?

If alcohol has a specific gravity of 0.78, wouldn't a 20% mixture exhibit a hydro reading of .956? (Interpolating between 1.00 and 0.78)

Fair enough

Took a couple tries to get it open.

I still can't get it to work properly -- better yet, see page 21
of the WF Flow Center Installation Manual:

I decided to try the 0.94 to 1.010 model:
http://www.novatech-usa.com/6602-6

About $28.50 with USPS priority shipping. We'll see how many pieces it's in after the USPS drop kicks it over half the country to get it here. :-)

I'll post an update to let everyone know how it works. Thanks again for the advise from the experienced forum members.
