Last reply about this subject. I can see you are more interested in playing word games then in discussing the various aspects of the forms. All I can say is try try the forms out sometime for yourself, you might just be pleasantly surprised. |

Guys what I am looking for is a little guidence. First time building with ICF so please lead me in the right direction. Like I said I did not like that the product support was so far away with Quad-lock. Now I am realizing that the product seems to be overpriced and is more labor intensive than other products. I am very new to this ICF construction and am asking the guys that use these diffrent products on a regular basis what they think. I have recieved some good imput so far and I thanks you all. Any more info would be great, I am trying to narrow down my search so when I go to the Home show in Orlando I can meet with the manufacters that have been recommended. Breaking ground in March so not much time to go. Thanks again! |

I don't think any one of the people posting here have used "all the available forms". Different forms have different qualities. Find a good installer to guide you and a company with good customer support and build your new house. Most of the main line ICF block manufactures will show at the home show in Orlando. Take the time to stop and talk to the people in the booths. Need a free pass to the exibits let me know and I will get you a link for passes. |

If possible check out the World of Concrete show in Las Vegas. Last year there were alot of ICF manufactures there. It is running from January 23th - 26th. I believe this to be the biggest show about ICF's anywhere. |

Ralph Not only does your figure appear high at first glance, you get to spend time assembling about 2400 sq. ft of "block". I think the time element could be more than high, however only you can determine whether that amount of time is acceptable for your project. Assuming you are doing this for yourself time may not be an issue! |

I think Jim has a good point, price is high to me. Time is the key. If you want to do all the work yourself with some help from the guidance of the manufacturers rep. you can save some money. Be ready to take some time ,doing this without an experienced installer will double your build time at the least. All icf have good and bad points compared to each others. I would suggest going with the most experienced installer with the block they are using yo get the best price on your build. A bad concrete wall will stay bad for ever! Just stack and pour is not true in all projects . I do respect a union tile setter (i am a union carpenter) your training and experience shows in the quality of the final product. I suck laying tile ,on my knees is not my calling and will not do as well as you do. The same holds true on walls I know how to set forms (that's what I do) However I am not the lowest price. You get what you pay for! You will be able to build with icf's with some help and learn from the project and see that they are not fool proof!!! NOTHING IS! Good luck on your build. Regards, Scott PS. knee pads will not be necessary with icfs (we stand up to work) ;-) |

ok recieved first draft drawing on the house I did the take-off of the basement walls, which came out to 200l/fX9'6'' high 7- 45 degree corners 4 -90degree corners plus I have to add 22'X34' stem wall for the garage. Also need some T's for the connection from the main house to the attached garage. What should this cost for the material for a good quality pre-assembled block? |

The general rule of thumb is: Is the rep. local, do they offer on-site training and support, do they have rental alignment available, whats there reputation, have they set up special concrete pricing for there icf buyers along with special pump fee's, get references.
