Agreed, CMU is certainly more labor intensive than ICF. I think the real benefit of DIYers using CMU is that this labor can be spread over a long period of time. ColoCf's one-side foam ICF sounds ideal if internal thermal mass is desired and you have a good ICF crew, but I have zero experience/knowledge with that product.

If you are looking for an 'Un-Balanced' insulation with more foam on the outside to take better advantage of the thermal mass of the concrete make sure to look at Quad-Lock's System. We have several R-Value systems that offer a "Thermal Mass Optimized" approach to the wall. The ties are 1/4" from the surface of the foam making attachment easy rather than having to use a long screw through additional foam and therefore dealing with shear load of a fastener through eps. We have material in stock across Colorado as well as trained and experienced installers. Click on over to www.quadlock.com or you can email me at brian.baron (at) quadlock (dot) com. Thank you for sharing about Quadlock system. I did look at the products and what impressed me the most was the floors and roofs. Can you do picked roofs with these forms. Not need to be with anything like 12/4 pitch. Just a good enough pitch to drain the rain water.

We used TF Systems for ours. It seemed like the easiest DIY system to me. I have nothing to compare it to but I have been happy with my choice.

Thank you all for the follow up of my thread. I do not want to do anything in the Caribbean, my idea is in southeast Colorado.
