the math is confusing you cause I did not use 6" or 8"
I actually used an engineered system called Hobbs that uses a post and beam structural design with a thin (2") web of concrete connecting it all. The result is concrete reduction and EPS foam increase for higher r value (average r28 for the wall). They do have sections of "flat wall" that are 6" cores where extra concrete is needed around window and door openings.
The price included footings. Excavation for the 1900 sqft foot print and 820 sqft garage frost footings cost $2200....did not have any dirt hauling costs since it was used around the site and regarded. So luckily the costs are not that high.

Check out my blog for the information on the ICF forms and photos of the pour:

I really miss colorado.  When I built my house in Longmont, they dug my basement in under 4 hours.  I am guessing way under.  I went to the my lot before work, and no one was there.  When I went at lunch, the hole was dug, and he was sitting around waiting for an inspector or someone to say it was okay.  I think they just spread the dirt around because it was one of the first lots in the subdivision.

Hi Clark, I am trying to build an ICF basement in NW Suburbs and the costs for a 1440sqft basement with 24x24 garage is around 67k(conventional one is 30k), which I cannot afford . I was wondering if you could pass on the information of ICF builder who helped you and if he is interested. Thanks
