Mr. Kavala, "We [OceanSafe] are the manufactures of the OceanSafe panels. Advanced is the commercial cooler part of the plant. We produce both products at the same location." In addition, Federal City is where the new plat is being constructed.

Hodara, Who is the "we" you refer to in your comment above? -Brandon

Also it says this on OceanSafe's website on the about us page:

OCEANSAFE is a manufacturer of leading-edge steel structural insulated panels for the residential, commercial and industrial market. We are committed to the rebuilding of New Orleans, with ongoing building projects there and throughout the hurricane devastated Gulf Region. Our reach is also worldwide, providing immediate volume solutions to both housing and commercial infrastructure needs, with ultimate commitment to quality.

Kavala - you clearly do your homework!! I realize you are a bit older than the "green" generation, but please learn to use the internet.

Brandon;

do you believe everthing you read on the internet?

Hodara is a mis-informed person, sucked into the OceanSafe hype.

if you learn to use the net yourself you would find that OCEANSAFE is not in fact a manufacturer, what they are is a group of investors that have seen a good idea and decided to create a website and captalize on that idea, there is nothing wrong with that concept. They do have a releationship with a manufacturer, as I do with several.

What is wrong; is their misleading statements, if they are commited to the rebuilding, maybe they should focus on the 2 they started 3 years ago instead of contributing to the blight in the city with half built empty houses. If you call their office and inquire about the house for sale on Stafford PL, they admit to their failed attempt at construction.

They are re-sellers buying from the plant in KY and resellling to several area builders, they are great at marketing, it is a shame they can't do business in a truthful manner.

Go back and look at their application photos, they are only showing 2 photos one residential and one commercial all the rest are conceptual elevations, wouldn't you think they would have more to show than just 2?
On a recent trip to NOLA and a meeting with one of their "dealers" he could not point me to one job I could look at.

Mr. Kavala, I never made any claim that I am OceanSafe. That statement is in quotes for a reason... I, Hodara Real Estate Development, distribute and construct homes made of OceanSafe Steel SIPS.
A quick check with the state of LA contractors board does not show you listed as a licensed builder? are you building under a different name?

Yes. Kentucky is where they started. They came to me in Florida, looking for a SIP solution. They had tried to use a poly panel and did not where to go from there. I met with them in 06 and then early 07 to some consulting work. In the mean time, I was scouring the country for my own purposes and came up with a manufacturer in Kentucky, AIC Insultation, Burt Lloyd. I worked out a sales agreement. However, Oceansafe swooped in, Lloyd bent over and complied, and they took it out from under my feet - then strapped me with an ultimatum. They also joined up with an investor I had introduced them to, Dave Johnston, in N.C. So, I had to move on to other things.
Burt's panel has it's pro's and con's but SIP technology is getting more sophisticated. I found other sources that are more flexible and creative in both design and manufacturing. I had a chance to work with a military group and design some housing and gained valuable exposure to some "interesting" solutions, as applied to steel sip construction. I can see Oceansafe's manufacturing direction is limited, but still useful.
