Have 2000 sq ft earth sheltered home, has conventional roof, is bermed on 3 sides.
Built on concrete slab, air heat runs to all rooms run under slab.
Have mostly windowed south side.
Heat now with small wood furnace that keeps house very comfortable.
Live in west central Wisconsin. -20 low in winter to 90 in summer.
Mostly only fire wood at night with solar thru windows taking care of daytime.
Cool in summer with 10000 btu thru wall air conditioner, which keeps house
cool and keeps humidity down.
Question is, will 3 ton geo, with ground loop, keep me comfortable in winter,
cool and dry in summer?

Maybe....you really need to a heat loss calculation to know for sure. If you are going to hire the job done, the installer should be able to do the calculations for you.

Hello Walt,

It sounds like you have a very efficient system already. Why do you want to switch or add geothermal?

Good Morning,
As I'm going on 69 years, looking to retire some day,
chimney is poor, stove is 20 plus years old and in a place
not exactly legal, I want to get some heating cooling unit
that does't need so much attention. I know that I probably
won't recover cost of installation but probably won't care.
I like the enenest of wood heat, so was hoping that the
2 speed of unit and blower would be nearly what I have
with my wood heat.

WALT,
THERE ARE MANY PROFESSIONALS IN YOUR AREA AND EVEN MANUFACTURERS NOT TO FAR AWAY FOR WATER AND DX SYSTEMS. ESTIMATES ARE USUALLY NO CHARGE, GET SOME HELP.
