# Why settle for 90% efficiency, when you can have 400% * "One of the best aspect of geo is cash flow. If you install a geothermal system, the monthly savings in operating cost generally offset the additional monthly financing cost, resulting in an immediate positive cash flow -- especially in a new home. ** Homeowners enjoy lower utility bills (40% to 80% lower than with conventional systems), lower maintenance, and higher levels for comfort, year-round. Even more than that, though, they have the peace of mind of knowing they're being environmentally responsible. *** Geothermal heating and cooling reduces the cost to heat and cool your home. Let me say this another way….of all the ways to heat and cool your home, geothermal heating and cooling uses the least amount of energy and therefore costs the least. ... There is a potential for utility bill savings, and many utility companies provide incentives for investing in GSHPs. |

Geothermal CAN do all of that, however, each specific installation needs to be considered on it's own merits. Different climates, different types of construction and different homeowner expectations can result in different types of systems being the best choice, not always geothermal. If you post your plans and heating/cooling expectations, including where the home is, you are likely to get a lively discussion on the merits of different systems. |

It also depends highly on fuel costs because if 90% efficient is $1 a therm gas that's fairly close to 300% efficient electric. But if its 90% efficient propane at 2.75 a gallon now it's easily beat by even 150% efficient electric. You will need a manual J heat loss performed on your house to find out what size heating system and from there you can find out what is the best short and long term cost effective solution. |

Yes, many do -- but that's not very interesting if yours doesn't.
OTOH, the US Gummit offers everyone a 30% tax credit for geo.

Yes, easily. But first, would you please post three or four geographic
locations where you're planning to install the system. |
