I need some ideas to finish the interior of my 32x38 shop.
Don't want to do drywall for sure.
Looking at tin or plastic ribbed look alike tin. Basically water resistant finish for walls.
Looked up the plastic tin on the net but can't seem to find any prices or manufacturers. Anyone with a link?
Any ideas, experiences would be appreciated. Obviously money is always a factor to some point.
Thanks!!

If this is a working shop, I would look at steel liner panels. It is the same type product as the exposed fastener metal used on pole barns, etc., except it has a lesser quality finish system and a lesser warranty. It is commonly used in finished ag buildings. It is strong enough to stand up to bumping and banging, will last forever, and can be hosed down or pressure washed at will. Cost (in my area) should run about .75-1.00 psf. Installation is quick and easy.

Here in my area, almost every lumberyard has a metal supplier that they can order from. The guys who supplied your 2x's can probably help with the metal.

Here is what I did in my 10' x 14' building I use for a waterpump / water filter system / small workshop: Installed 7/16" OSB over the insulated stud walls, then taped the joints with fiberglass mesh joint tape, then hand troweled the OSB surface with drywall mud so it looks more like stucco than wafer board, then painted the walls with oil based bright white exterior grade paint. It's durable, water resistant, and was relatively inexpensive.

Attached, should be, a picture of my garage with sheet metal on ICFs. Even with an exterior finish on the inside you can have trouble with wood framing if you wash vehicles or the like in the garage since water will still get behind these sidings. Also with that high humidity in the garage from washing, condensation can be an issue in a wood wall.I know that when I pressure wash vehicles and the walls water gets behind the steel. So caution.

Why Brad,
I do believe you put up that post just so you could show off your toy. :-)
Nice floor, what stain did you use?

In restaurants and other water sensitive areas I see plastic paneling. Most I have seen have a decorative pebble finish. I would go to your home center and look in the area that has the interior wall paneling. They might have some there.

I've seen that pebbled finish plastic (fiberglass reinforced plastic) at Lowes. Looks rigid enough and very waterproof - especially with a layer of plastic sheet behind it to catch anything that makes it through the joints.

Chris,

Who sells FRP SIPS?

Alton;

there are several, we also can supply them. If they are strictly FRP/ foam they have no load bearing characteristics, but if you need a structural panel we can also laminate FRP to metal skin. We also have skins available with a plastisol coating for use in corrosive applications

Anna;

I love the $86. per sq. foot cost, which is closer to reality than most people realize

Thanks for the link.
I was looking for interior finishes only since that's where I'm at, the link is useful and realistic as chris said but the 86$ mark is a bit high.
Cheers!
