How do you tie rebar in concrete columns in fixed block ICFs? If the rebar is put in at the start of the wall I will have to start tying the ties at each course. The wall is 14' tall. It seems like it will be almost impossible to put the 14' rebar in from the first row and get it to stay as I build subsequent courses. Help!

Is the concrete column the same size as the concrete core of the block? Or larger?

Many times I have built and stood the cage ready made and had to cut the ICF to go around, then wrap it all with wood forms to hold it together.

I have also done it where the column is flush on one side of the ICF wall and protrudes on the other, in this case I will build thru and open the one side of the form, once at the top, build the cage in place, create my column with the ICF and again wood forms to hold it together.

Thanks Chris, the column will fit into the 10" wall. It is 60" wide with #6 bar tied together. There are several of these. I am trying to figure out a way of doing it without having to cut the forms all up.

I think Quad Lock may have an advantage in your case.

If you can put in your stirrups or horizontal bar as you go leaving space in the right spot to drop your verticals in from the top. But to give detailed advice we may need to see the engineering.

I thought a knock down block might make it easier but the block we have to use is a solid 16" X 48" block with 6" o.c. webs. I do not have a say in the block and I know I will not change.

If that's the case and everything must look uniform you may have to build and install the cage, cut the webs of the forms to install around the cage and use formply and threaded rod to hold it all together for the pour
