Well, I have begun my ICF home build and its going to be DIY due to overall cost. I dug the basement on Thursday and installed the Form A Drain on Friday. I poured the footer yesterday and it turned out Great!!!! I really spent my time and it's with 1/8" per my transit. Forms are supposed to be delivered on Wednesday and I'll take off on the basement walls. I'll try post pics. Thanks for all the help on this site and I'm sure I'll be asking more questions so please forgive me if I ask too many.

The questions don't really crop up until after you start. I hope you have some experience on site who has enough personal responsibility to really examine what's happening instead of just doing a once-over and giving a nod.

Remind us why you use the gray block on the aboveground portion, again?

Looks great. I'm a little confused. Is the white block basement or is it a stem wall? I guess the words "main floor" have me confused, since it looks like you're getting ready to pour the second floor. Who makes that grey block, anyway?

The blocks are Fox Silver, they are supposed to have a little higher R value (27) similar to Logix Platinum. I used the fox standard white blocks below grade because they are less expensive. I refer to the top floor as main, because the lower is a walkout basement. There will be 10'x 60' decks across the front of both floors, I couldn't get the building any deeper without extensive blasting of our great Canadian Shield I have a blog of the build at http://kasshabog.blogspot.ca/?view=sidebar

What did it cost you to do all the work yourself? I'm looking to do something similar in a year

That's really hard to answer as I'm not finished with the project. I know I saved a great deal if I don't count my time as being worth anything. I planned on hiring the ICF out but it just wouldn't work out in the bottom line.
