Hello everyone. I hope it's ok to make a post like this. We have about 100 cubic yards of footings to pour in eastern AL for an ICF basement project. I'm hoping to find someone who has some ICF experience just because that seems to be a plus when installing footings. Thanks

The one thing you want to do is make sure your dowels don't interfere with the webs on the block you will be using. It's good to have some corners and straights on the job at the time of your footing pour and lay them on the wet footing , then drop you dowels in and do a run from there.

Thanks. So the only thing the footing installer should be aware of as far as ICF is the dowel placement, is that correct? We won't have any forms on site, but the design is simple enough that we should be able to calculate the proper locations of the dowels.

You can do a layout on the edge of the footer if you know what block you will be using. I can't tell you how many times I've showed up at a build and some of the dowels are in the wrong place. Having a corner and a straight block makes it quicker and full proof. Of course as I've posted many times here, since 2004 I only do mono pours. It cuts out all the questions of miss placed dowels.

And remember not to install any dowels in door openings!  Otherwise, you will just have to cut them off later.

Here is a photo of my ICF footing right after we completed concrete placement:

There are other footing examples here as well:

Alright, I'll see about just marking dowel placement, and maybe this will be enough instead of seeking someone who specifically has ICF experience. By mono pour do you mean pouring the footings and the walls in the same pour, so no cold joint? Does this mean you pour the footings then place the wall forms immediately after?

That's called wet setting, when you start building on fresh footings. No I pour the footing and wall in one step.
