What steps do I need to take to have the installation checked to ensure it is proper? And 2 what recourse do I have this late in the game? Geothermal is simple in theory but complex in practicality it appears.

Thanks for any insights or help anyone and everyone can add.

Geothermal is not complex, it simply REQUIRES careful design and close attention to be paid to details. Geothermal is three, interconnected, systems working as one.

1) The Geothermal Heat Pump. If it is too big, or too small, it will not operate as efficient as possible, many times leading to a premature death.
A GSHP is no more mysterious than your refrigerator. Both are heat pumps and both last a long time when not abused.

2) The Loop field. No matter what kind, open or closed, if not designed properly will not allow the heat pump to do it's job.

3) The Duct Work. Very often overlooked, but just as important as the other two. If the correct amount of air is not delivered to the correct places, the home owner often feels uncomfortable and the heat pump can not do it's job.

Steps to take include most everything on the troubleshooters checklist.
Get everything you can information wise including man J load etc.
Next start your own thread.
You chose a thread that complains about Waterfurnace which appears to be one of the few brands you didn't own.

The frequency which threads are hijacked might lead one to conclude starting a new thread costs $500.

If anyone feels the need to part with $500 before starting a (free) thread, let me know - I'll provide a mailing address for the check...

I am currently dealing with a similar situation with one of my three WaterFurnace units, located in my basement.  The installation was done by an authorized installer who was a hack, but sold a lot of units for Water Furnace.  I switched to another authorized place and got a service contract from them.  They have been great, but my basement unit seems unrepairable.  It's a Synergy 3; it takes hours to heat an auxiliary tank with no load, and can't cool at all.  Low and high pressure lights flash regularly.  The unit's had the board and solenoid replaced, coolant removed and added several times, and it still fails to work when called upon.

I was heartened to find that this board has a Water Furnace rep.  I am in the midst of preparing a letter for WaterFurnace with the help of my dealer containing all of the particulars, and I will also post its contents on this site.  Dave Buss from WaterFurnace was at my house a couple of years ago looking at other problems from the original installer, but I'm hoping that through this site, presented rationally, my problems might get resolved.  I'm not impressed with the support my dealer has gotten from Water Furnace so far.

Yessir, that was my plan. New to this site, but not to the internet. I just have to get my details first, and that may take a couple of days and/or a call to WaterFurnace. Meanwhile, if WF_Inc knows my call's coming, or wants to route the call to someone special, it gives him/her a chance to let me know who to call.

I started off last year at reasonable. Now, I'm upset. I figure it's in their interest to help out before I escalate to annoyed enough to purchase Water Furnace avoidance domain-names and site search keywords, and call the reporter for the Chicago Tribune who wrote about my green home when it was being built for a follow-up.
